Natural Ways in Managing Cholesterol

The amount of cholesterol in your body determines your health. There’s the bad cholesterol and the good cholesterol, and how much of both is present in your body, whether it is good or bad, is often influenced by your lifestyle and eating habits. Too much of fats in the diet and lack of exercise or inactivity is always a bad combination, one that can lead to high levels of bad cholesterol. The treatment or management for this may therefore include careful management of diet and, possibly, a change in the lifestyle.

A low fat diet coupled with an intake of the different forms of Vitamin B, except niacin, may help decrease the amount of bad cholesterol or LDL (low density lipoproteins), in the body. Whole wheat, oatmeal, whole brown rice, soybean, milk, black strap molasses, fish, chicken, broccoli, and spinach, are all excellent sources of Vitamin B, so have these in your kitchen cupboard most of the time.

Dietary fiber can also reduce the levels of bad cholesterol by binding to the molecules of cholesterol, thereby preventing it to be absorbed in the blood stream. You can get fiber from products such as vegetables, fibrous fruits and whole grains.

Garlic, grape seed, royal jelly, chromium, Vitamin C the q10 coenzyme, and pantothine, too, can help decrease bad cholesterol levels. Continue Reading »

Himalayan Goji Juice Claims and Controversies

The introduction of Himalayan Goji Juice in the market had generated hype among people who want to stay young and those who want to get well from certain illnesses. Founded by Freelife and Dr. Earl Mindell, the secret behind its formula are 4 polysaccharides uniquely found in the goji berry which they had uncovered. These are referred to as the biologically active polysaccharides responsible for the juice’s health benefits. Referred to as “Master Molecules”, these polysaccharides have a strong ability to promote optimum and excellent health. The goji berries are said to have originated in the Himalaya and had been responsible for the long life and good health of a lot of people in ancient times. To date, it is available in the form of a bottled juice drink which is claimed to have the same extraordinary and unbelievable health benefits of a goji berry.

However, along with the hype which arose from its introduction in the market, came several controversies pertaining to its claims and health benefits. Several people regarded its health benefits as false claims that give false hopes to a lot of sick people – particularly those suffering from cancer. These goji juice false claims linked the product to pyramiding scam and a way to fool people that there is a cure for every illness. Researchers who conducted a study on goji juice said that Dr. Mindell used the benefits of goji berry out of context and there is very little evidence to support the hype. Moreover, the goji berry used to formulate the bottled juice sold to people did not really come from the Himalayas although grown in the same manner as the ones originally found.

Despite controversies, the product stands by its claims and health benefits by revealing several goji juice secrets. Some of these secrets include the way they are able to single out the best quality goji berries via molecular fingerprinting. Another secret is the anti-aging properties of the goji berry which was responsible for why people in ancient times lived longer.
